The Difference You Made in 2024

Because of You: The Impact of Your Support at Liverpool Women’s

Every donation — big or small — helps us care for women, babies, and families in ways the NHS alone cannot. From comfort in moments of grief to celebrations of new life, your support makes a difference every single day.

Here’s what you helped to fund in 2024:

Comfort in Heartbreaking Moments

With your help, we’ve supported bereaved families with remembrance services, specially designed spaces, support groups, and memory-making gifts. We also fund training for staff to ensure the most sensitive, compassionate care during life’s most difficult times. Projects funded include:

  • A beautifully curated Annual Remembrance Service held at St Georges Hall.
  • Ongoing Honeysuckle Support Groups
  • Specialist sessions for bereaved fathers via Honeysuckle FC ensuring emotional and psychological support is available long after loss.
  • Heartbeat bears, memory-making kits, and handprint charms, giving families something tangible to hold on to.
  • Refreshed bereavement rooms and a lovingly maintained remembrance garden, offering families a calming space to reflect.
  • Specialist training days for staff, ensuring the care we offer is always sensitive, informed, and compassionate.

Caring for the Carers

You’ve helped us say thank you to our incredible staff with wellbeing lunches, calming therapy lights, pantry donations, and recognition events. These small gestures mean the world to the people who give their all every day. Projects funded include:

  • Regular donations to the Staff Pantry, festive breakfasts and lunches, and relaxing staff.
  • Supported events including Nurse & Midwife Day, long-service awards, and places at the Nursing Times Awards, giving staff the recognition they deserve.
  • Provided access to international training courses, preceptorship events, and dedicated resources to support professional growth and retention.

Spaces That Heal

From furnishing clinics and family rooms to providing iPads for parents in Neonatal Care, your donations have made our hospital feel more like home. We’ve also improved signage, bought new equipment, and created uplifting artwork. Projects funded include:

  • New furnishings and equipment for units like EPAU, Neonatal, and Genomic Medicine, helping to make clinical spaces warmer and more family-friendly.
  • New iPads in neonatal rooms to support communication and bonding, especially for parents who may be apart from their babies.
  • Access to breast pumps for home use, signage promoting skin-to-skin bonding, and educational videos on contraception and procedures — all designed to inform and empower patients and families.
  • Monthly coffee mornings for neo families, festive events, and children’s Christmas parties, which brighten hospital stays and bring people together.

Celebrating Community and Inclusion– Whether it’s rainbow flags at Liverpool Pride, gifts for families in need, or a peaceful moment in our Multi-Faith Room, you’ve helped us build a community where everyone feels they belong. Projects funded include:

  • Multi-faith room enhancements, offering quiet reflection and prayer spaces for all backgrounds.
  • Our presence at Liverpool Pride and inclusive resources such as bilingual volunteer ID badges and wellbeing calendars.
  • Supermarket vouchers for families in urgent need, ensuring no one is left without access to basic essentials.

None of this would be possible without you. Thank you for standing with us — and with every woman, baby, and family we care for.
