Family Flat Re-opening

_{A newly refurbished Family Flat at Liverpool Women’s Hospital has officially reopened, offering a vital home-away-from-home for parents with babies receiving specialist care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).}

Hospital life can be emotionally and financially overwhelming, especially when a baby is born sick or premature. Hotel costs, travel, parking, food, and time away from work all add up. That’s why the three charity-funded flats are so important.

Thanks to a generous gift-in-kind donation from M&Y, who carried out the family flat kitchen refurbishment, all three charity-funded flats have now been transformed into brighter, more comfortable spaces. Together, they can now support between 60 and 80 families every year, helping them stay close to their baby without the added financial strain.

The ribbon-cutting took place on Thursday 18th July, with Andy Teasey (M&Y Construction), Tom Turner (Paula Rosa Manhattan Furniture), and senior neonatal nurses Sue O’Neil and Kelly Black in attendance.

At the time of the opening, the newly finished flat was already in use by a family, a touching reminder of just how needed these spaces are.

Later that day, the team welcomed Paula Brennan, whose heartfelt fundraising brought warmth and personality to each flat, from soft furnishings to homely touches that make all the difference to parents staying there.

Liverpool Women’s Charity first launched a fundraising appeal for the flats three years ago and is proud to see the final transformation now complete thanks to the combined generosity of its supporters.
