A Dash Of Magic

Join the Festive Fun and Make a Difference: Take Part in the Santa Dash for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity

The much-loved Santa Dash is back this year, and Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity are calling on supporters to take part and raise vital funds.

Whether you walk, jog, or run, the Santa Dash is a fantastic way to get into the festive spirit while supporting a cause that touches the lives of thousands of women, babies, and families every year. All proceeds raised will go directly to enhancing patient care, funding specialist equipment, and supporting life-changing services at Liverpool Women’s University Hospital.

Last year, Emma Broadhurst with fiancé Adam Birkett took part for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity in memory of their little boy Cody to raise funds for the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service, that provide care for women and their families following pregnancy loss at any gestation and early neonatal death.

Emma said “They are real life earth angels and helped both of our families so much during the most difficult time of our lives. Words can’t express how grateful we are to all the incredible staff who cared for both of our families during this time.”

In August last year, Emma was told she was miscarrying, and despite every effort, nothing could be done to prevent the inevitable. Her son, Cody, was born on 29 August 2024 at just 18 weeks and 2 days. Cody spent three precious hours and 17 minutes with his family before peacefully passing away in his daddy’s arms.

Emma added “Taking part in the Santa Dash was our way of giving something back. With the funds raised we hoped the Honeysuckle Team would be able to purchase another cuddle cot.”

Emma is taking part again this year but will be joined by a new little edition to the family, Florence. Cared for under the preterm labour clinic whilst pregnant with Florence Emma said “The staff was amazing and they really looked after me and Adam during the whole process. I was there every week for scans and felt part of the furniture”

Florence arrived at 29 weeks and spent 9 weeks in the Neonatal unit at the hospital.

“Adam and I are forever grateful to all the amazing staff on the neonatal unit for caring for our beautiful girl Florence. The care and compassion shown by all members of the team was outstanding. They involve you in all aspects of care and everything is explained to you at a level you understand. It was difficult for us leaving her of an evening, however we knew she was in the best hands receiving the greatest care. We are so lucky to have such an invaluable service so close to home.” said Emma.

This year Emma and Adam will be raising money for both the Honeysuckle Team and the Neonatal unit.
